The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Student Chapter housed within the Department of Interior Architecture is an affiliate of the American Society of Interior Designers, a professional society of interior designers. The primary purpose of the student chapter is to expand students’ understanding of the diverse options within the profession and develop future leaders. All interiors students are eligible for membership. Activities include student participation in events sponsored by ASID Carolinas chapter and National ASID organization, field trips, design competitions, and other types of professional development activities. Members of ASID are committed to advancing the profession and can be found in academia, industry, and the residential and commercial sectors of design.

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Campus Center housed within the Department of Interior Architecture is an affiliate of the Carolinas IIDA Chapter, a professional organization of commercial interior designers. The primary purpose of this organization is to work toward the advancement of the value of interior design and its practitioners as well as to cultivate leadership within the profession. All majors in Interior Architecture are eligible for membership. Activities include student participation in events sponsored by Carolinas IIDA Chapter and National IIDA organizations, field trips, design competitions, and other types of professional development activities. IIDA members represent educators, industry partners, architects, and commercial designers.
