MATERIAL PROPERTIES
The images in this section show how the reflectances and transmittance of materials on the surfaces of objects and areas in an interior space impact lighting distribution. The rendered images are generated for electric lighting of varying interior spaces: office, classroom, conference room and gallery space.
The material changes in the spaces are as follows:
office
option 1: concrete floor, shiny black metal bookcases/file cabinets, light pastel blue (one wall)
option 2: light wood floor (closer to pine), shiny medium gray metal bookcases/file cabinets, blue-gray wall
option 3: gray carpet, light wood bookcases/file cabinets, red brick wall
classroom
option 1: gray cloth tackboard, medium gray wall, medium brown carpet
option 2: tan cloth tackboard, white wall, concrete floor
option 3: forest green cloth tackboard, light gray wall, dark gray carpet
conference room
option 1: concrete floor, dark wood table, light blue wall
option 2: light wood floor, white plastic table, yellow wall
option 3: blue marble floor, medium wood table, light purple wall
Roll over each combination of material reflectances and transmittance in the space to observe their influence on the interior lighting in the space
