NM_GSO: Åstrand vs. Noise Machines
(New Music Greensboro)
Last fall our 3rd years conducted a “Experimentation with Sound / Material / Space”. It was a 4-week project focused on the awareness of interior acoustics from an experiential point of view and the understanding of the relationships between material, sound, and space. A selection of the sound machines were located in the lobby of Gatewood Studio Arts Building for enjoyment and interaction.
This spring join us on April 19th from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at the Weatherspoon Art Museum where we will be having a joint event with the School of Music. Swedish percussion virtuoso Anders Åstrand performs an improvised concert on sound machine sculptures created by UNCG Interior Architecture students. Additional performances and sculptures by UNCG faculty members Stephen Skorski, Steve Landis and Mark Engebretson, along with UNCG music students.
