This semester’s 4th year studio project led by Kista Mansell focused on the design of a historic Aladdin catalog home in the Fisher Park neighborhood of Greensboro, NC. Each student was assigned a unique client and one of three Aladdin home designs. Students toured Fisher Park to identify the Aladdin homes and get a feeling for the neighborhood. Fisher Park is recognized as Greensboro’s first suburb and is the city’s most popular historic district. Students researched and analyzed the specific home assigned to them, the surrounding neighborhood, and client needs then developed evidence-based design solutions. Students redesigned the layout of both floors to accommodate the needs of a modern family with special attention paid to the kitchen and primary bath designs.
