Interior Architecture

Hospitality seems to be in the eye of the IARc Department this semester. The fourth-year group and professor/department chair Khoi Vo, are taking on the rehabilitation of a historic building in Troy, North Carolina. The Hotel Troy, a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1909, and recently purchased by a couple that decided to bring the building back to life.

The students are currently working in groups, developing several design proposals for the clients, which expressed their desire for the space to incorporate four main aspects: a place to gather, a place to create, a place to celebrate, and a place to live. With this project, students are bringing the worlds of interior design and historic preservation together.
