Professors Tommy Lambeth and Stoel Burrowes, along with Graduate Teaching Assistant Christopher Vann, assigned first-year students a project in which they had to use magazines and take images, textures, text and colors to create a collage in a 12” x 12” format. Then, students had to assemble anything they wanted with rods and planes of Bristol Board on a 12” x 12” base. Students then presented drawings showing elevations and perspective views to describe the assemblage. This project teaches students strategies for unifying elements into a whole by identifying the parts of this whole.
