Second Year Students Study Residential Design

Posted on February 6, 2017

Second year students in studios taught by professors Tommy Lambeth and Sabrina Frey will focus on residential design this semester.  With the course divided by two projects, students will first complete designs for a three-story Row House set in the location of Charleston, South Carolina.  To start this project, students created client profiles of their parent(s) and/or other family members and exchanged the profiles throughout the class.  Currently, students are in the conceptual phase of this assignment and are finding inspirational precedents to design their Row Houses.

The final studio project for second-year students will be completed later in the semester.  Professors Tommy Lambeth and Sabrina Frey will instruct students to design an RV interior with their ongoing client profile to travel in around the country. As part of this project, all of the students and professors will take a field trip to an RV manufacturer. Here they will learn about the multifunctional needs of RV interiors and the industrial design aspects of RV’s.
